Our school-wide agriculture initiative transforms learning into a living, growing experience. Through innovative hydroponic growing systems, students cultivate fresh produce year-round while exploring sustainability, entrepreneurship, science, and nutrition.
Students participate in every stage of the process—from planting and monitoring growth to harvesting, cooking, donating, and even selling produce at local farmers markets. The food they grow may be incorporated into school meals, shared with the community, or donated to those in need.
This hands-on program naturally connects multiple subject areas. Students investigate plant biology, monitor pH levels, analyze growing conditions, calculate costs and profits, and explore questions such as which crops are the most sustainable or economically viable. They develop business plans, practice marketing skills, and learn about food systems and environmental stewardship.
Every student has a role to play. Younger students may help plant seeds and care for seedlings, while older students take on increasingly complex responsibilities related to production, research, and sales.
Most importantly, students experience the complete cycle of growing food and understand how their efforts can positively impact their community. It's an authentic learning experience that develops academic skills, social-emotional growth, responsibility, and confidence.
