The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
 
 

 

SafeUT answers crisis calls, and chats—about yourself or someone else—24/7. These free services, provided by University of Utah Health, are confidential. Their counseling topics include:

  • Depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues;SafeUT
  • Suicide prevention;
  • Loss and grief;
  • Bullying and cyberbullying;
  • Drug and alcohol problems;
  • Self-harm;
  • Relationship difficulties;
  • Any life challenge.

SafeUT is free and confidential.

If an “active rescue” is necessary – meaning their crisis counselor believes the user is in immediate danger – the counselor will alert emergency services to attempt a face-to-face safety evaluation based on the information provided by the user.

Live On is a statewide effort to prevent suicide by promoting education, providing resources, and changing our culture around suicide and mental health. Their website can help you find support groups, understand the warning signs of suicide, and find local crisis support. 
 
MY3

 

MY3 is for individuals who may be having thoughts of suicide, or who have a history of suicidal behavior. It is designed to help these individuals stay safe during when they are experiencing thoughts of suicide. MY3 helps individuals develop a safety plan for themselves. A safety plan is a written list of prioritized coping strategies and sources of support for people who are at high risk for suicide.

 

 

 

Hope Squad
Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. Hope Squad members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors. The program reduces youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention.

Virtual Hope Box
content that they find personally supportive in times of need. For example, an individual can include family photos, videos and recorded messages from loved ones, inspirational quotes, music they find especially soothing, reminders of previous successes, positive life experiences and future aspirations, and affirmations of their worth in their VHB. Finally, the VHB provides the individual with positive activity planning, distraction tools, and interactive relaxation exercises including guided imagery, controlled breathing and muscle relaxation.
