Science
Our school uses project-based learning and fieldwork to teach science in alignment with the Utah Core Science Standards. Students engage in hands-on, inquiry-based investigations that encourage them to explore real-world phenomena and apply scientific processes. Through this approach, students develop a deeper understanding of core concepts in life, earth, and physical sciences while practicing critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Outdoor field studies, technology integration, and individual or group projects provide students with diverse opportunities to observe, experiment, and connect their learning to their local environment and global scientific principles.
The curriculum is built around the Science with Engineering Education (SEEd) Standards, which use natural phenomena as the foundation for learning. Students investigate observable events to construct explanations, gather evidence, and design engineering solutions to problems. This approach mirrors the work of scientists and engineers, fostering curiosity and building transferable skills. Our teachers participate in professional development to ensure high-quality, standards-aligned instruction, helping students build the knowledge and confidence to understand and impact the world around them.
